About

Daniel is the Managing Director of Chironix which operates throughout Australia/New Zealand and the USA. Chironix specialises in cloud and emerging technology projects to fulfil customer requirements. This has included collaborations with Google X in bringing Glass for Enterprise to the Asia Pacific, Boston Dynamics and the development of multiple use cases for their robotic platforms, and other developments centred around Cloud based technologies (machine learning, big data etc). Daniel also has expertise in Google's G Suite; Cloud Platform (including compute, storage, machine learning and big data); Geospatial; and Chrome/Android.

Daniel has a Federal Government background, having worked in the Australian Department of Defence in military planning, capability development, Naval Strategy Executive, technological solutions, and complex capability realisation. He is a graduate of the Royal Military College Duntroon, the Capability and Technology Management College (Joint), and the Australian Command and Staff College (Joint). He holds a Bachelor of Arts (History/Psychology - Honours), a Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology, two Masters from the University of New South Wales in Capability & Technology Management and Systems Engineering, and a third Masters from the Australian National University in Defence and Strategic Studies. He is also a Certified Practising Project Manager. 

Government career highlights included serving as the Project Manager of JP2008 Phase 3H (Wideband Global Satellite), completing Defence trials, leading Commonwealth delegations to the US and developing the acquisition case for a range of terminals to utilise the constellation in collaboration with the United States. Daniel also served for two years in the Navy Strategy Executive in the Office of the Chief of Navy as the Deputy Director of Technological Solutions. In this role he was awarded a Finalist position in the Young ICT Professional of the Year 2014. Daniel also attended two international staff colleges, working with up to 28 nations for a year each in residential training dedicated to achieving technical and strategic mastery in the Defence domain. 

Outside of his technical profession, Daniel is also a Research Fellow with the Perth USAsia centre, where he writes on strategy (both national and military) and disruptive and emerging technologies. He is active in academia and often interacts and hosts dignitaries from various nations. This includes regular consular engagements; engaging in Track 2 diplomacy, forums and meetings; and providing policy advice and guidance. 

Daniel has a deep interest in artificial intelligence, space technologies, mobile robotics, human memory, cyber operations, cognitive studies, social processes, the arts and the outdoors. He enjoys wood turning, reading, cooking, the performing arts, travel and foreign cultures. He lives in Perth, Western Australia with his Fiancee, and consults throughout Australasia and North America.
